Amazon pays $2.5 billion over a cancel button it designed to fail
Deception. The FTC's order covers a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion in refunds to an estimated 35 million people enrolled in Prime without consent. Internal documents surfaced before trial. Amazon admitted no wrongdoing.
The FTC says Amazon is an exploitative monopoly. That case is still open.
