What this is

A record of harm that companies caused on purpose, with the paperwork attached. Not opinion, not a boycott list, not a newsletter about how the internet used to be better.

The scope is wider than the name. It started with the surveillance business, but the same tactic shows up in a car whose heated seats are behind a subscription, a printer that stops working when an internal sponge fills up, a tractor its owner is not allowed to fix. Different industries, one habit: make it cost the customer, and make it hard to leave.

What gets published

  • Court filings, settlements, consent orders, regulator findings.
  • The company's own documents and statements.
  • Reporting we can trace to one of the above.
  • First-hand accounts, labelled as unverified until they are not.

What does not

Anything we cannot source. If a claim here has no citation, it is a bug — tell us and we will pull it.
